Four words that decide what goes on the shelves: the shop only sells gear for the sports the family personally does.
The family
McBike and Sport is family-owned. Peter Krause founded the shop; Peter and Jill Krause are its owners, and their children Hailey and Heiko are part of the shop's own staff page too.
The motto they run it on is “We Do What We Do” — the shop stocks gear only for the sports the family actually does. Bikes on the dirt and on the road, fly fishing in summer and ice fishing in winter, running and triathlon, and cross-country skiing on both track and backcountry skis.
It's a narrow rule for a retailer, and it's the whole point. Nobody on this floor is reading a spec sheet back to you about a sport they've never done.

Mountain bikes — sold, fitted and serviced for Bulkley Valley riding.
Road bikes, for the long straight miles out of town.
A full service workshop in the shop, keeping all of it rolling.
Fly fishing — gear chosen by people who fish the same water.
Ice fishing, once the lakes go hard for the winter.
Running and triathlon — the shop races, so the shop stocks it.
Cross-country skis for groomed track, plus the rental fleet.
Backcountry cross-country skis, for away from the trails.
That list is the shop, in full. If something isn't on it, it isn't in the shop — and the family will happily tell you where else to look.

The Masters ski program runs January to March on Wednesday nights — a shop that sells cross-country skis, rents a full fleet of them, and then goes out on Wednesday nights to ski. That's what the motto looks like in practice.
Come and ask about it in person at 1191 Main Street, or call the shop.
